Project Summary (75 words or less):
This website has two purposes: marketing and commerce. This site showcases Snap Industries' first product release, a gift wrap kit called Snap Wrap. The website features all Snap Wrap patterns, information, pricing and the ability to purchase directly online. The site also is used by retailers interested in wholesale pricing and information.
1. What was the purpose of the project? (business objectives, design challenges)
This is an e-commerce and marketing website for Snapwrap. Our challenge was to make the two paths on the site clear (retail vs. wholesale), and feature the product in a fun interesting way so that visitors are compelled to buy the product.
2. What was your measurement for success?
A visually appealing site that motivates visitors to purchase products.
3. Who are the target user(s)? (user profile: demographics, abilities, needs/goals)
Individual consumers, retailers looking for wholesale information, as well as the press.
4. What is the desired user experience for each? (behaviors/actions)
A smooth commerce transaction that is easy to understand, and ultimately a completed order or sale.
5. What were the project parameters or constraints you were working within? (integration with existing site, technology requirements, limited budget, etc.)
The site was built on the Yahoo store commerce platform, which somewhat limited our design. We didn't want the design to look like any other Yahoo store, and we really tried to come up with a rich, high-end design that doesn't look "canned" or out of the box.
6. What process and/or methodologies did your team use during the project? (usability research, wireframes, etc.)
This website was wireframed and heavily tested.
7. What have the results/response been to date? (increased sales, visit duration, etc.)
We have received positive feedback from both wholesale and retail customers.
