Project Summary:
The success of last years Golf Ball Frenzy Game brought EDS back to Duffy & Partners looking for a challenging sequel. This new game has a more in-depth and animated storyline with new challenges for both those who are pros at last years game and new visitors to the website. Development of a new game is a fun way to become involved with the EDS Byron Nelson Tour website and the Byron Nelson Golf Tournament.
1. What was the purpose of the project?
To build an exciting and fun sequel to last years Golf Ball Frenzy Game that will entice visitors to interact with the website and get excited for the Byron Nelson Golf Tournament on the PGA Tour.
2. What was your measurement for success?
This continuation of last year's game created a "frenzy" for employee
awareness, and produced excitement for this year's Byron Nelson Golf
Tournament. We knew this game was successful when EDS asked Duffy
& Partners to come back again next year to design a third game in the
Golf Ball Frenzy series.
3. Who are the target user(s)?
EDS employees and visitors to their website who are interested in the
Byron Nelson Golf Tournament
4. What is the desired user experience for each?
To have fun and enjoy the challenges of a new golf ball frenzy game.
5. What were the project parameters or constraints you were working
within?
The game had to be animated and look like last years game, but at the
same time needed a new game platform and challenge. While this was a
continuation of last years game it needed to be new and different and
have more storyline content without being too lengthy to distract
employees from their everyday work.
6. What process and/or methodologies did your team use during the
project?
This game was a continuing saga of last year's Golf Ball Frenzy game. We created the new game to build on the squirrels that were shown in last year's game by extending the storyline and creating new game
challenges. We engaged talent and resources beyond the graphic
designer and worked with people to enhance the experience of the game
with sound and movement.
7. What have the results/response been to date?
As the tournament was just completed the results are yet to be
determined, however we know the game was a success as Duffy &
Partners is creating another sequel next year.
